Today I went to a Japanese restaurant that is owned by a Mexican family but of Japanese descent. It is called Tama Shokudo. As soon as you see the entrance, it gives off homey vibes of a traditional Japanese and family owned restaurant set inside their house. The decorations were very interesting because the different tables were set inside the various rooms of the house. There were books and some little trinkets, they even had a samurai sword which was cool.
The service was very good and they were helpful with ordering and bringing it to us. The menu had pretty small varieties and options of food like ramen, curry, and some apps. The food came very fast since there weren't many customers. I have been here before and I got the curry which I remembered to be amazing.
I ordered the katsu curry which comes with rice, fried chicken the curry sauce and a side of pickled vegetables. The presentation was exceptional! The curry sauce was so flavorful and paired really well with the fried chicken. The rice and curry sauce combination was amazing too. The fried chicken was buttery, crispy, and very juicy. It was one of the best I have had in a while, better than KFC. I got a blueberry ramune which is basically a sparkling blueberry kool aid but better.
Overall, I recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes a casual environment and great Ramen and Japanese curry. I give the restaurant a 8.4/10.
