The Maze of Morroco

Morocco, specifically Marrakech, was one of the first places on this trip that was not to my interest or liking due to the massive crowds and the food was also not my favorite.

We started our journey in the heart of Morocco, the Medina of Marrakech. Our Airbnb was located at the other end which required us to walk through the entire craziness on a Friday night at 11pm! And just from that first walk I just knew it was not for me. The streets were filled with people for as far as you could see with vendors selling mystery juices and restaurants from one side of the square to the other selling food with the strangest ingredient combinations I have ever seen. The first day I did not want to leave the bnb because I did not want to walk through all of the people so we stayed inside doing school work for most of the day. Later, my dad and I went out for a while to walk around and try and find the snake whisperers and lucky for us there were many around and the snakes where plenty active doing their devil dancing. We explored deeper in the Medina alleys and found vendors selling shoes, bags and clothing. Because there were a lot of the same looking shops we got lost but found our way back to our Airbnb after a while.

The next few days the itinerary was the same, going out to explore the Medina. After Marrakech, we moved on to a much more chill area called Essaouira. Essaouira was much for pleasant and relaxed because there were fewer people and fewer vendors. The food was more enjoyable with amazing fish sandwiches and being able to walk the streets without getting bombarded with people made it a lot more tolerable. We spent a few days walking around and enjoying the place before driving back in the direction of Marrakech. On our drive back to Marrakech, we spent one night in a village at the base of the Atlas Mountains, where a lot of the people belong to a tribe called Berber. The Airbnb was very basic but the view of the Atlas Mountain was very nice.
