The Rainbow Trout, in latin the Oncorhybchus Mykiss is a rainbow fish found in cold water tributaries in lakes and rivers found all over the world.
Rainbow Trout are one of the most famous fish to be caught from the fly and can grow up to five pounds but normally range from one - five pounds but they can also be caught with bait and lures. These fish are stocked in many places which means that they are brought into lakes every year to make sure that anglers can catch them. These Trout have lots of cool brothers and sisters that are also very sought out for by many anglers around the world including the Brown Trout, and Tiger Trout. The Trout species are known for their meat which is very delicious especially when you smoke them.
While we were in Patagonia Chile we went looking for some of these beasts and caught two five or more pounders and a four pound brown trout while doing it with a local guide.
