The Brown trout or in Latin the Salmo Trutta is a fresh water fish found in lakes, rivers, and creeks. They are found all over the World including Europe, West Asia, North Africa, South America and commonly found all over North America.

The Brown trout is one of the most saught over game fish in the entire world. Being so hard to catch, anglers look for these fish in the most remote of locations, brown trout are known for being some of the toughest fish out there which is why they are so hard to catch. They thrive in all locations due to their capability of adapting to a new environment rapidly. They grow up to forty-four pounds and thirty-nine inches and live up to twenty years. Brown trout are foragers which means they pick off small bugs, nut, and larvae off the surface and also like small tadpoles. Brown trout are in the trout family which includes the Rainbow trout, Brown trout ,Tiger trout, Padamino trout, Sea trout and close cousins to the salmon. Brown trout are excellent to eat but you need to be sure that you are fishing in the right seasons and they sometimes have size regulations where you can not keep one over or under a certain range of size. If you are going to catch them for fun they also require one to use barbless hooks in order not to damage the fish when released.
