When traveling, normally we would have taken a plane straight to a location, or maybe a small lay over somewhere, but not this time.
We started off our day early in the morning (5:30am). I got up, got dressed, and then went into the kitchen to make some food and get all of my stuff together. I got up around 4:15am because I was going to go turn off the lights in our dining hall and I saw my dad who had stayed up all night for some reason. When I finally got up, I made myself some bread and butter and then I began to tidy up the house before leaving for the train station at around 6:15am. It was a thirty minute drive to the train station and we were driven by my dad's friend, Mason. When we got on the train, we put our backpacks in luggage section and then proceeded to find seats. I was sitting with my dad and my brother was sitting with my mom. The train ride was super calm, we went from Merida to Cancun which is a three and a half hour train ride, which normally (if we drove a car) would be a four and a half hour car ride. The scenery going to Cancun was amazing with lush and thick jungles and forests and we couldn't see any animals along the way because train was going too fast. On the train, I took a nap and watched a movie and by the end of that, we had already reached our destination, Cancun. We spent 20 minutes walking around trying to find the exit because nothing was clearly marked. After about 20 minutes, we eventually got onto a shuttle bus to take us to Cancun airport. It was about a twenty five minute ride and rainy but it was still relaxing.
The airport was very busy (very different from Merida airport) and we had to wait about three hours until we could check our bags, so we went and got some food at a random restaurant. We ordered or a drink Arnold Palmers and I got a cuchanita torta (which is a pork sandwich). To kill time and to entertain ourselves , we wrote some post cards to friends and did some silly drawing of funny types of fish. Finally it was time to check our bags and immigration and security went smooth. On the plane I started off with some more movies and shows while snacking on my food. I had a new experience of ordering noodles in a cup and it was paired with a super weird Peruvian soda. The flight attendant said most people think it taste like bubble gum, which I don't agree with because it was disgusting. The flight was five and a half hours so I took a nap, when we arived to Lima it was about 10:30 or so and the process was easy getting our bags also going through immigration was simple as well. Lima was super foggy and humid and you could not see past one hundred feet. Finally! we are at our destination. It was so late and we were so hungry that we ordered McDonalds at 12:30 and went to sleep.
